Here’s what you need to know.

The CDC stated that people and restaurants should not serve or eat red, white, or yellow onions due to a salmonella outbreak that is effecting the nation across 37 states. It has impacted a total of 650 individuals so far.

The onions that need to be thrown away are from ProSource Produce Inc. The onions were imported from Mexico on July 1st and August 27th. Although the onions are old they can stay healthy for much longer which makes tracking down these onions difficult.

The CDC advises all Americans to stay away from the onions and should throw them away if they have them in their home. This could cause a major outbreak if it is not contained. Salmonella is also hard to detect in the early stages which makes the outbreak harder to control.
